Quickie: Aiden Leslie, Devilish Dance Artist and Activist

The singer unplugs to headline a monthly concert showcasing LGBT talent.

By Brandon Voss

Like the message of his latest single, Aiden Leslie keeps making his "Diamond Dreams" come true in New York City. The out artist will unplug his dance hits to headline Devil-May Care, a new monthly gay concert series at NYC's Cutting Room, sponsored by Logo TV and SiriusXM's Out Q channel. He spoke with us about the importance of the LGBT event and why he's also lending his voice to champion amFAR’s generationCURE.

Gay.net: Tell me about your partnership with amfAR's generationCURE. Why is that cause so close to your heart?

Aiden Leslie: People think that this issue is over. I've been a witness to people who are still fighting. I am so proud to be partnering with amfAR’s generationCURE, helping them continue to raise awareness and accelerate the search for a cure for HIV/AIDS. It’s incredibly rewarding to be at a place in my life when I can give back to the people who have supported me.

What can fans expect from your appearance at Devil-May-Care?

I'm really excited to be doing a couple songs completely unplugged and on acoustic guitar. It's a side of me my fans haven't seen yet, and the Cutting Room is the perfect venue to do it in.

Have you picked out a snazzy outfit, or will you be rockin’ a shirtless look for the boys like in your "Diamond Dreams" video?

Snazzy, yes. Shirtless... well, you will have to come by to find out!

How important are events like Devil-May-Care that specifically showcase LGBT talent?

It's vital! Every artist needs a forum, and especially in today's music world, LGBT artists need to be heard.

Because we do care, what are your most devilish qualities?

[Laughs] Good question! How much time do you have...?
